Trip to Kurland

    My friend and I went to Kurland for 2 days to visit museums, memorials, cemeterys and of course, digg! This is some of our photos.

    DIGGING

    Ostfront is mud mud and more mud... First thing that happens is that we get stuck with car!

    Found german helmet with decal in machine gun nest, maybe from machine gunner

    CEMETERY

    German cementery. This is only 1/4 of the cemetery (to big to get on 1 picture) and each grave stone represents 8 soldiers (4 names on each side of grave stone).

    Super finds =) Was a nice trip wasnt it. I will make a thread with my finds too bro
    Btw I think it is the projektile from the Panzerfaust im holding. I have the photo of the panzershrek rocket, will post it in my thread.

    Will swap photos on msn with you tomorrow.

    Thanks Tom! The katyusha rocket is still there if you want it It was beginning of really long day and we were walking very far in the the woods and the rocket was so heavy that i left it there. I kinda wish i would have taken it with me, it being my first find and all, but i got another one the day after so i am still happy

    Looks like a good trip ,how has the Helmet cleaned up ?
    The gates of hell were opened and we accepted the invitation to enter" 26/880 Lance Sgt, Edward Dyke. 26th Bn Northumberland Fusiliers , ( 3rd Tyneside Irish )

    I have not had time to do it yet but i plan on doing it tommorow, i will use water and some powder that i got from my friend in Riga. I can't remember the name of it but i am to mix 1 handfull of powder with 10 liters of water, put in the helmet for 15 minutes then clean it with dish sponge. Will post pictures when it is cleaned. Also it has 1 decal, wermacht.

    Probably Oxalic acid !! Look forward to the results.
