Default Is this hilt original to the dagger

The dagger was described by the seller as the "hilt meets the cross guards perfectly" (must be a mistake).
Here are some photos showing some significant gaps between the cross guards and the hilt.
Additionally the hilt appears to be elevated above the cross guards Ie even if it was wide enough to fit in the cross guards it would still be too high and sticking up above the cross guards.
These are issues at both ends.
It seems like such a wide Gap to be shrinkage and then it is to big on the vertical axis anyway.
    Thoughts?
    Thanks for your help.

JR and Dave would of commented if they felt the dagger hilt was not good.
