Re: Original photos of the Chained SS Dagger in wear
I would like to extend my thanks too your friend Wilhelm as well as to you; it is always nice to see an question answered with period documentation. I have now discovered something new, once again, because of members such as you from this forum, thanks again.
Re: Original photos of the Chained SS Dagger in wear
Here is another item of period documentation. The annoucment from "Uniformen Marke" Magazine from June 1944.
Cheers, Ade.

Re: Original photos of the Chained SS Dagger in wear
Ade, a correction. I knew I had seen it also elsewhere.
This was not from the "Uniformen-Markt", but from the "Deutsche Uniformen-Zeitschrift",
since May 1943 the new magazine that included "Uniformen-Markt" and the other one
"Schwert und Spaten". To be specific, issue 6, page 8 from June 20, 1944
Thanks Larry C. for moving the information about new SS daggers elsewhere. I did not want to
start a new thread. But it is better there!

here's my contribution, this comes from the Eickhorn catalogue.
It states that SS daggers can only be bought by SS men at the RZM distribution points.
The Eickhorn-catalogue mentions:
the regular dagger: from shops etc. with permission. They purchased from the RZM;
dagger with chain: only to be purchased through the Verwaltungsamt SS at Munich.
Here is a sequence as from the most important notes found in the Mitteilungsblatt der RZM
through the years 1935-1943:
February 2, 1935: not yet to be purchased at shops with a permission
(last line). Within the RZM existed the department SS-Versand,
which in early 1934 was renamed into Beschaffungsamt-SS;
June 8, 1935: to be purchased through shops with a permission
from the RZM;
November 7, 1936: to be purchased through the Verwaltungs-Amt der SS
(administration department) only. Kettengehänge means chained hanger;
May 7, 1938: specifically the Verwaltungs-Amt der SS.
One could not purchase directly from the RZM;
March 25, 1939: as before; the regular 1933-daggers through RZM
(and shops with permission);
February 17, 1940: as mentioned in 1939 note;
January 25, 1941: specifically Verwaltungs-Amt der SS. No
longer at Munich, but Berlin-Wilmersdorf;
February 20, 1943: daggers for the SA, NSKK, as well as HJ-daggers were
no longer produced (for the time being). No further notes were issued after
this date about daggers. The SS was not mentioned in this Febuary 20,
1943-announcement, but one can be sure the announcement was also in force
for SS daggers, the 1933 and 1936 pattern.
