    Hello the forum,

I'm about to cath this beauty but I need your help before jumping

The blade is a real beauty with the EICKHORN logo type 2
The lower crossguard is marked "2" (not visible on these pictures)
The hanger has unfortunately some damages, but ......

I've a good feeling, but as an ex skydiver, I need a parachute

    All the best

Hi Arnaud ...if this blade is a beauty where is the crossgrain as I only see an over cleaned blade and a nice dark dedication compared to the motto on the obverse.

Dont jump out of the plane on this one. IMO ...wait for others to chime in as well..as these along with Rohm SS daggers are highly faked.
Dont let one opinion be the deciding factor on pulling your rip cord...you dont want to have an unexpected tragic surprise.

There are others here that also study and collect these types.

    Regards Larry

I'm with Larry on this one in multiple areas. With so many (constantly being improved) good fakes now in circulation - from the images posted I would welcome the input of an über-specialist. Best Regards, Fred

A lot of concern with that dedication etch. Looks sloppy. Where the H is at in Himmler the middle line crossing the 2 upright I I that makes an H is not quite right. The dot after his first initial is a dot. These are more squared than circular from original etches I'd seen.

The example image attached while not as clear as I'd like it to be, you can still see in it what I am pointing out if you copy the jpeg and largen it on your screen.

Frankly, I am on the fence with it but if were $ coming out of my wallet, they'd remain in my wallet.

As I've pointed out prior, I could be wrong too but the obvious is there to be seen.

Not certain how good the image is in Johnsons book for posting use. Also the Himmler dedicated SS daggers I owned prior were back when 35mm cameras were used and the images I'd taken were not as close as I liked. I have a couple others taken from known originals which I can review to see if they'd help.

While I have little to no knowledge on this subject, when I compare Rich's photo of the dedication to the photo of the original post, I see clear differences! Downright sloppy, as Rich noted, and as Larry noted, much darker compared to the motto, which is suspicious enough IMO. Personally, that would be a few doubts too many for me to put several Ks on the table.
