SS chained portepee

Article about: Hi guys, what I got here is a portepee for a SS chained dagger. We always see the regular army portepee's for these, as these were used in the time after the regulation was set to allow thes

Hello Gerrit, thank you for that information. But this doesn't prove the portepee of this post is not a ss chained portepee. The manufacturer of this portepee wanted to probably do something different that a regular army one but still make it look like an army portepee so they just added two striped on the bottom. The ss stripes. This can't be proven but what else could it be. It just makes sence. The proof of it's existence you can see on the photo's.
    Kind regards, BL

Well any army portepee hung on a SS M36 would be one isnt it?
There are no SS Portepees made, they simply used by SS regulations the army ones, so call it what you like, but it has by regulations no more rights on that title then any ordinary army, with or without stripes.

By the way I'm not saying army portepee's aren't supposed to be on chained ss's, ofc they are. This was just made by some manufacturer, because they wanted to.

    Smile Second comfirmation

Coming back to this thread as I have some interesting new discovery.

I bought this SS chained from an older persons collection who has had it for years.
Complete with the SS marked teardrop hanger and portepee.
Only when I arrived home did I notice it, it is the SS chained portepee we are talking about here.
It has the same two black stripes on the bottom.

So it is obvious that some manufacturer chose to add a small detail to there portepee for the SS chained dagger.
Ofcourse this is a very suddle thing so the portepee still falls under regulations.

In my opinion, an amazing discovery.

I would say a pretty amazing Type A Intial production dagger and assembly.

Please post more photos of this dagger showing the blade as well.
The portepee will surely be commented on as well.

    Regards Larry

As Larry noted above "The portepee will surely be commented on as well" and here is my 2¢ :

Neither I nor those whom I asked has ever heard of a specific portepee for M1936 SS daggers. The standard Heer portepee was the one used.

I've done more asking with friends and the opinion is "Really cool portepee but I've never seen one before"
