SS Dienstdolch by Robert Klaas Solingen, 'II' marked - very clean

Hello all,

Posting this potentially very nice piece by Robert Klaas, Solingen in great condition, for comments, opinions etc. I would also appreciate clarification on the Roman numeral 'II' marked to the rear of the lower cross-guard - am I right in assuming this is in reference to one of the three regiments of the SS-VT? Or is it just a number referencing the Gau/region like on the SA dagger?

Boker SS Daggers also used the first type seen on Fiores dagger...and also used the 2nd type seen on Kirks dagger ....a generic type runes button.
We see this sometimes on some SS dagger producers.
Nothing wrong with it an both daggers are correct.

Should of kept it but as usual you think something better is worth trading it in for!

Very nice dagger, Fiore, and congrats! The II on the lower cross guard is the district mark meaning it was made in Dresden. My Klaas is marked I meaning Munich [sideways like yours] and our runes buttons are the same, but as Larry said there was often a variance.

Well this is in fact not correct, as these daggers daggers above were made by Klaas in Solingen

Ade has a sticky on top about district controle markings, and i quote:

SS 1933 pattern Dienstdolch distribution markings & Early producers
These can be found on the reverse side of the lower crossguard of the SS Dienstdolch and comprise of a small die struck marking of either a Roman numeral, I, II or III.

SS daggers inspected and then were sent to to the various SS districts throughout Germany from three main distributions centers.

I = München.

II = Dresden

III = Berlin.
