Reading the name Walter Nordmeier (from Hagen), I remember
this dealer did send lists in the early 1970's, which included
practically ever dagger and sword/sabre from the TR-period.
I was warned in those days by a well respected German dealer from
those days, as it was said in Germany his material would include
fakes of any kind! If this was true and correct, I cannot remember
anymore after so many years (45 or about). I never did buy from him!

I recall those names and am familiar with their wares. However, although they did fake work at the time means nothing unless they can be definitely can be connected to this dagger. To the best of my memory, this prototype dagger was found in the mid to late 60's.

It Is Most Likely That This Dagger Was A Vet Bring Back
And That It Walked Into Hotel Buy Sometime
High End Fakes Were However Ordered And Produced In The 1960s .

There were two of these Alcoso "prototypes", the one that turned up in Florida and found its way to the late John Pepera's collection and a second in the collection of the late Robert Waitts.

Of that I am aware. James Atwood was the first to have such items produced and sold in the North American market.

If There Are Differences Between Both Daggers ,However Subtle, Perhaps They Were Produced At Different Times ? Perhaps One Is Period With The Second Being Assembled Using Mostly Period Parts Later?
Whatever Conclusions Are Drawn These Items Are Now Both "Text Book" By Definition.

I hadn’t seen this thread which is quite old. I imagine Pepara’s SS-Prototype is tucked safely away in someone’s collection. I had been communicating with John while working on an article on the SS Prototype for Bender’s magazine, as I had come across the archive documentation of an SS Proto-type being produced. As with many of my writing projects, it remains in the inch and half file along with correpondence with my old friend John, Barry Brown and most of John’s corrspondence with others about his dagger. John had his own opinion about the second example that ended up in Waitts’ collection.
