here we are friends, washed the helmet with citric acid, then finish the last layer with a hydrochloric acid solution (toilet cleaner), and taaaac, something stands out to the right of the helmet, they are very lucky few mm, but I think it is a decal (it is visible above all before the treatment with paraffin, the paraffin gives a slightly yellowish aspect to these few white mm, could it possibly be a decal of the SS?).
I will continue the restoration by plugging some holes in a very delicate way, especially where the steel has thinned.
as you can see I have removed the internal liner to work better, I will treat the lines with ferrox (a solution that works as a converter).
let me know yours

Talking of relics has anyone seen the price these are now fetching on Ebay their averaging $150 for a relic.
-
true, but from what I understand ebay is a bit expensive compared to other sites that sell relics
-
The area you marked is a little too far forward to be a decal in my opinion. If you manage to stabilise your relic then you are doing well.
-
And, oh my god.
-
Looks a bit like SE which was manufactured by Sachsishe Emaillerwerke, Lauter, with 66 being the shell size. Personally I wouldn’t plug the holes as the more you do it the less it’s a relic. It’s a fine line between stabilisation and taking away its relic status.

tomorrow I will look better in this area, thanks for teaching me the SE brand, even if at first glance today it looked more like an S566 (I thought I saw a temple on the right and not on the left where there is the presumed E)
