Relic helmet - please identify if possible

Article about: Hello, I just acquired this extremely rusty helmet. I believe it is M35, but I am not very good in German stuff. Please give me more inf, based on those photos. The rivets look somehow flat

    I just acquired this extremely rusty helmet.
    I believe it is M35, but I am not very good in German stuff.
    Please give me more inf, based on those photos.
    The rivets look somehow flat and similar to those of the rear of M16's - I am not sure if this is correct.

    It's hard to tell for sure due to the corrosion, but it's either an M35 or an M40...

    Not easy to ID as Glenn says, either an M35 or M40 that has been burned, buried and dug up. Quite far gone but as real as the Sun in the sky.

    In this condition nothing would be gained by oxalic cleaning, you could treat it with rust remover or coat with oil but nature will ate its course with it.

    Humanic,

    The SS helmet I posted with the reasonably good decal was bathed in oxalic acid for 24 hours then I coated it in bee's wax. I had to do something in order to keep it in one piece,
