Picked this up a few years ago, think it came via a well known poster here.
The details escape me but I think I wrote it down somewhere.
Do these get copied?
I wouldn't have thought it worth their while.
Though it does amaze me how well some of the decals hold up.

It’s rare to see a helmet with this degree of damage being faked, but decals certainly are. This helmet looks like it may have been treated with Oxalic acid, but not sure. Are you able to provide a hir res side on closeup of the decal?

Looks good to me, the decal looks OK from what I can see. it is not obviously over the top of corrosion.

I agree the decal is most likely good, but still interesting to the see some pics as the fakers will try anything for a few extra $$ even on relic helmets, and the swaz looks a little distorted but this could be partly due to the steel being torn? Would be interesting to see a closeup of it if that’s the case.

While not an expert in this field, looking at it I would say its original to the helmet.
No sign of being applied over corrosion, quite the opposite.
Still surprised how well they hold up however.
