M38 that may have some potential.

Thanks to everyone for your comments.
I have acquired some clearer photos.
Serial number is still hard to confirm (4??3) But confirmed CKL68
Exterior appears to have been possibly postwar painted black then stripped back (current status), there is still remnants of black paint on the metal liner and recesses around the liner bolts.
I believe the helmet to be original but am still open to opinions.
Hopefully these additional photos will give a better opportunity for comment.

Personally, I would not invest in this helmet. If original, it’s no longer in original condition. I’d keep saving my dollars until I could afford something that was unequivocally correct in every respect. Just my opinion. PY.

I understand your point about saving for a ridgey didge (Australian for original) helmet but already own 2.
My point is there is value to any original helmet even those that have been molested, value just depends on the severity of molestation.
This is why I put this helmet forward to the forum for opinion.

Steve I get where you are coming from but I believe the angle of the photos that have been supplied to me doesn’t include a good side view to conclusively display the lip curve or not so I am still on the fence.
However this helmet has been posted on some other forums and has been considered original.
