"In all my years as a soldier, I have never seen men fight so hard." - SS Obergruppenfuhrer Wilhelm Bittrich - Arnhem
Sorry but i can't help, but do you think the threaded disc is a replacement? It seems to have no patina when compared to the badge.
Name of badge is "Talvisodan tuhontorjuja" in Finnish. Winter war luftschutz/air protection badge. Made maybe 1940-1941.
That "Hopeatakomo O.Y" threaded disc is found in almost all small shooting/unit badges. Nickel silver, thus it won't corrode.
a rely seldom seen odd WW2 badge. thanks for sharing it with us.
Cant find info on it,just same as you saw this on ebay, even in Finnish site and dealer cant find info about it,2 options rare or just fake!
Regards Rolands
I did check what book "Talvisodan asevelimerkit, Allonen and Nykänen, 2015" told me about this. It was meant for:
"During our wars, the firefighters of our cities had demanding work in fighting the fire and destruction caused by enemy bombers. Participants in this struggle were given their own badge"
Likely meant for all firefighters generally, or some places mention it only for Vyborg firefighters and Helsinki military fire brigade.
In book it had same Hopeatakomo o.y. threaded disc.
Badge size 20x31mm
2017 orders and decorations auction booklet gave 50€ hammer price.
few of these appears almost every year here in finland, bought my mint-piece for just "30 euros"
