Its greatly appreciated. Now I need to get photos of the blade . Gary

You might already know, but just in case - that's a Type 97 Navy officer gunto.
-
Yes to bad the handle has no wrap . I've gotten photos of the blade . its a little rough .
-
If you're ever of a mind to have it re-wrapped, there are guys that do it ($200-300 USD). Fred Lohman is one, but there are a few. He also sells the wrap by the foot for guys that want to try their hand at it.

Might look out of place, though, as your gunto has that weathered, used look. Up to you.

Thanks bruce if I get it I will definitely get the handle re-wrapped
