Another unusual sword

Article about: Hello all, This must be the week of unusual swords for me. This one is in very bad shape and WAY over priced. If this is an original sword... I’m assuming (If real) it’s a very late war.

Well I ran across another one by accident so will post a link to it for others. Note that this one has no sarute or a hole for one. After a while, one can spot this variation a mile away.

Hi Bruce, nothing stamped on the blade.

I read both of the discussions that've posted. They’re both interesting for sure. I can see this being a fake, or thinking it’s a fake, because of it being poorly made. However, I can also see it being late war due to the lack of materials at this stage in the war.

    Ok, thanks.

Yes, that is the trouble with these. The late-war gunto were so shoddily made, they are often as bad as the modern fakes!

Me thinks they are multiplying! This one has the appearance of the plain variety and hence maybe Chinese used.

Another plain version has surfaced and can be seen at the link below. Even though possibly made in several factories, note how much they have in common. It is as if a pattern had been drawn up and companies contracted to make them.

Ran across another plain version from a 2021 auction that sold for US$700.
