Any better and more photos? This doesn't expand.
"Please", Thank You" and proper manners appreciated

My greatest fear is that one day I will die and my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them

This flag is a one-look original. The person who wrote the dedication was a skilled calligrapher. Some of the others who signed also are skilled. Many names and slogans.

    祝 召
    守田二郎君

Congratulations on being drafted [convened; called together]
    Mr. Morita Jirō

召集 (shōshū) means to be drafted; however, I cannot find the kanji as written so I've replaced it with

    Right side:

    Makoto: Sincerity

    忠孝一本
Chūkō Ippon: Loyalty and Filial Piety are One

    同心会
Dōshinkai : Unanimity [Same Heart/Mind] Club

    忠誠
Chūsei: loyalty; sincerity; allegiance; fidelity; integrity

    七生報国
Shisei Hōkoku: Give seven lives for the country

    Left side:
    武運長久
Bu'un Chōkyū: continued luck in the fortunes of war

    必勝...
Hissho .... Total victory [can't read the rest]

    死中在活
Unsure of the sounding; perhaps Shinchū Zaikatsu: While dying there exists life

    NICE FLAG!

Thanks Nick! I don't think I would have gotten it even if I read it correctly from right to left!

Makoto sounds like a girl's (woman's) name. I like it.

No way, Jose ... 誠 Makoto is a boy's given name.

I said, "Makoto" sounds like a girl's name. And it is. Only it doesn't look like the word on Shinsengumi flag.

    It's a bit of tongue-in-cheek. Cheers!
