    Thanks so much. One question, Should the tap be at the top or bottom? The way you have it seems like it should be one the bottom.

    No, you have it displayed correctly with the fastener at the top.
    The kanji is read from right to left:
    兵憲

    Since modern Japanese reads from left to right 憲兵, it looked backwards to you.

    Generally speaking, yes -- when writing horizontally. When writing vertically it is top to bottom right to left. Today also Japanese is written top to bottom, right to left; you'll notice magazines and books generally open "backwards." Are you having fun yet? (^____^)
