The small impartially struck stamp at the top is the Showa stamp, used by the Seki Cutlery Manufacturers Association to mark blades that passed a quality inspection. The stamp is seen on blades from 1935 to 1942, but the majority of dated blades are 1940-41. Just for a date-range reference.

Officer gunto tend to run from $900-1,400. The market is a little wacky right now, but that's what a 'normal' price range looks like.
