    Is the picture flipped? If not, the long stroke is on the left on the sword, whereas it's on the right in your other pictures.

    Can you show me where this stamp is found in a bigger veiw? I've never seen that on a blade.

    The Torimatsu kana is "RI リ", a Katakana kanji. The one in your blade picture is flipped.

    Oops, I misread the title! Thought it said “katana”. Either way the kana is flipped if that is what it is supposed to be.

    To me it the round mark looks like a pin or screw that's been peened in place before the surface was smoothed out. As Bruce said, it can't be the "ri" katakana unless your image is flipped.
