...The 4th column has brackets (3) and what looks like 18 year, something month, that would be 1943 (for Showa 18 year).
Rod, good job! I had to enlarge the photo before I could even faintly see the 十八 (18) year. Additionally, the hat was issued at Sasebo Naval Stores -- that's the pre-printed kanji on the far left of the label"

Here's a second cap in the collection. I'm attempting to research it. It appears to be an army field cap, maybe an officer? I tried to decipher the name.....looks like it may have "Oka" (Hill) in it based on symbol on far right but not sure.
