Japanese Ships Flag up for sale

This flag is on a common auction site and being listed as a
"Original Large Japanese Ww2 WwII Rising Sun Flag SHIP. 3x3 Excellent Condition. Condition is "Used". Starting bids at $919 US. The listing is current so I did not post a link. Thought it might be against the rules.

I do not think the flag is original Japanese Naval ships flag but more of a civilian parade flag. I do not know enough about Japanese flags but would not be willing to spend this kind of money to figure out.

Thoughts on a military or civilian flag would be appreciated to me for learning. Hopefully may also save someone some big money.

Looks nice but certainly not a ships flag, or a navy flag, but most likely to be from a civilian organisation or a school. It’s pretty small and would be a good display piece being that size if you’re looking for non-military.
