Koishikawa Arsenal Type 30

Article about: Hi Guys, I've had this bayonet for 10-15 years. I believe it's a Koishikawa Arsenal Tokyo type 30. I just recently got my second one that's a Hikari Seiki Seisaku-jo. They are both pre-42, b

    One need a bit of imagination to "see" the hiragana on this marking, but this is the one, though awkwardly stamped.
    Since a few months, I record on a database every Type 30 bayonet I see. This marking troubled me for a while, it took me a certain time before seeing one stamped distinctly enough to make out the drawing with no doubt.

    Maybe seeing it written in another font could help, I think we're close to this :

    And below is a photo of one, maybe a bit more neat. What is troubling is the hook which go very high.

    The series prefix of this bayonet is いも, series 113.
    Welcome and it is about time you signed up over here. I do have one quibble with you though. How about changing the bayonet number 1959 to a series 93rd instead of series 113?

    株式會社・光精機製作所 KK Hikari Seiki Seisakujo
    Encircled ゑ = 91st Series, JB46-47, Serial Range 7936 to 57444.
    いゑ = 91st Series, JB46-47, Serial Range 46812 to 95258.
    いひ = 92nd Series, JB46-47.
    いも = 93rd Series, JB46.
    いせ = 94th Series.
    いす = 95th Series.

    Cause it was almost 4 am here when I wrote the message and my tired mind turned 93 into 113.
    Of course this is 93, there is no series 113, my bad !

    The use of prefix format applied in the course of 91st series is quite hard to discern due to the number range overlaps.
    I have reported :
    - ゑ (encircled) from 7051 to 45007
    - ゑ (not circled) on 28112
    - いゑ from 1279 to 90534

    Okay! Got it -- thanks. Yes, I now recognize the stamp in question as a "cursive" も [mo]

    As indicated in the posts above, there is an overlap in the style of the prefixes used in the 90th series. In this series they all started out as a "Variation C" and the only difference is whether the blade is white (JB-46) or blued (JB-47).

    Hi Tony,

    Yes, it's all part of my social responsibility!
    Saw an early war example with no markings, bright blade and the serial numbers removed earlier today....
    Think I will stick to late war bayonets from now on.

    Cheers

    Danger
