Good one, Guy! That's unique! What's that smith name? Yoshi - something?
Hi Guy, a rather common economy sword that is found in some numbers. The characters are 義治. Probably pronounced as Yoshiharu. Not listed in Sesko's swordsmith book. The following dates are recorded with the M partial inspection mark.
義治 Yoshiharu/Yoshitani.
1943 Spring.
1943 Autumn.
1944 Spring.
1944 Autumn.
Thanks Kiipu! He is in Sesko:
YOSHIHARU (義治), Shōwa (昭和, 1926-1989), Tottori – “Yoshiharu” (義治), family name Mitani (三谷), rikugun-jumei-tōshō.
Not much!
Cheers,
-- Guy
Hi Guy, there are two 義治 and the one depicted in post#31 is the one that is not in Sesko's book. I think it could be Yoneda Yosaburō 米田・與三郎 though. I have a little missive about the topic in case you are interested in reading it. Take care and all the best.
