The bayonet is also an early one. From the serial number, it was produced before the First World War (1914 - 1918 that is). And also from the inspection mark below the canon balls for the Koishikawa arsenal in Tokyo.

Tony - Thank you! I had no idea and always thought it was from WW2. I appreciate the information sir!
I didn't mean to imply that the bayonet did not see service in WW2, just that it had had a long service life. Those early ones are a little bit better made, you may also have another inspection mark on the back of the top crosspiece.
It seems that your grandfather had a good eye, and selected some nice pieces!
