    What is the cutting edge length across the back? Tanto were 5.9 - 11.8 inches. Dirks are in that range at 7 - 12 inches.

    It looks like this one could have been a private tonto, re-titted as a dirk.

    And the edge was improperly reduced, possibly to file away a chip.
