Hello,
I´m new and would like to ask you if this Type 95 NCO Shin Gunto is an original one and what is the average value. I´m looking to buy it.
Unfortunately I don`t have better pictures.
Thank you very much for your help.
Best regards
Kasper

Hi Kasper, looks to be an original sword with matching (?) numbers on the blade and scabbard throat. The knot looks to be a reproduction.

Russ
Thank you Russ, any idea about the value in Europe of it? I can`t find anything on european public web sites.
Regards
Kasper
Kasper,
I agree with Russ on both the gunto & the tassel. Made by the Seki Sword Co., Inspected by the Nagoya Army Arsenal, for the Kokura Arsenal.
You can read all about them here: Non-commissioned officers Gunto 1935 (Type 95 GuntM)/title>
For pricing, have you tried ebay or other EU auction sites? They run $1,000 in the US on average. Prices seem to be recovering from the COVID lockdowns.
Not an expert, but does the blade look sanded, with the tip rounded? If so, that would reduce the value, in my opinion.
Tip is a normal Type 95 kissaki. I think you probably mean the very point of the kissaki, yes that might be rounded from a break. Without better pictures, can’t really speak to your question of sanding.
It is an original, according to the posts here and I will try to get it. If I succeed, I will post better pictures.
Update, unfortunately I missed to get it :-(
