I picked up this holster at a local gun show. The cleaning rod I previously posted was inside. A representative example of a type VII holster. I am not sure if the spotting on the leather is some type of mold or other. I am going give a go at treating it as mold for now. The spotting will always remain but should look better.

I also have not seen the factory markings that close to the clasp hardware on the lid. The fittings are black lacquer coated steel with the exception of the tab that goes over the stud. That is black lacquer coated brass. I thought all of the parts would have been steel. The type VII is the last leather holster before the transition to rubberized material construction. All opinions and information is appreciated.
