Hi, can anyone please give me any further information about this WW2 Japanese book?
It has a folding map of China and a compass on the front cover.
Many thanks

The booklet is titled Military Service Record and is similar to the military passbook in construction, but this was a privately purchased diary to be written in by oneself instead of the passbooks kept in the custody of the master sergeant. It belonged to a Kiyoshi Kodaira of the 57th Inft Regt. He joined the army in August 1939 and the dates range from 1939 August to 1945 August, recording his service in the occupation of Nankin, where he seemed to suffer a bullet piercing his right hip in early 1940. He was transferred to the 20th Rgt and spent most of the following year in hospital in Hiroshima and Tokyo. Promoted to Superior Private in August 1941. Reactivated as reserve in 1944 and 1945. Engaged in the Battle of West Hubei in Oct. 1940.
Nick, you are wealth of knowledge. Many thanks.
