Hello friends,

I've been looking to get into Japanese militaria for a while, but while I have some experience in the field of the Third Reich, my knowledge of Imperial Japan is as yet very poor. My two major wish-list items at the moment are a Type 98 officer's shin-gunto and a yosegaki hinomaru - the latter of which I have managed to find an example of in Europe at last. I have not obtained it yet; the photos are the best the seller has to offer. It is described as being of silk, but the dimensions are not given.

I would appreciate any comments on authenticity, and of course help with translating as much of the text as possible. I recognise a few kanji, the phrase 'Shichishou Houkoku', a name 'Furukawa' (I think), but that's about it.

Thanks for looking!

P.S. If anyone could recommend any good Europe-based dealers that either specialise in or regularly offer Japanese militaria I would be grateful - the vast majority of items naturally are in the United States.
