Thats a commemorative medal of the 16th Infantry RGT "Savona", nothing related with Alpini here!
I wont say that this RGT had a short life, as you can see all these dates and some places of these famous battles shown, are those of the major battles and campaigns in which the regiment participated, from the Italian independence campaigns of the second half of 800's , through bravely the WW1, and the war in AOI (italian oriental africa) of 1935-/1936, period in which this medal was coined!
Those kind of not official medal could be made of silver for the officers, or in bronze, even silvered as in this case for the whole troop!
The 16th Regiment with its division was dismounted in 1942 , when it was fightint in north africa for all the losses had.
What would you like to know?
Thats a nice medal, but almost no value!
Cheers.
