    Default Italian Majors Greatcoat

    Hi all,

Had this a while in my collection. Italian uniform items do not come up for sale often in the UK so I try not to pass on an opportunity.

This appears to be an Italian wool Greatcoat m.33 styled ranked to a Major, although I'm not too sure what branch as the colour between is a purple-esque shade. This has plain green buttons and screwed on collar stars.
Unfortunately there's a mothing hole through the lining and the back of the coat.

    I hope you all enjoy,
    Matt

Very nice Matt. Equally hard to find in the US as well.

    Morning to all,
a nice example, it is a Mod. 40 from the war period uniform, with plastic buttons and small scale ranks.
The colored stripe on the sleeve rank, which indicates the Army's specialty, is very faded, but originally it could probably have been that of: Engineers, Bersaglieri or Medical officer.

Just a close up of both rank patches that I took earlier this week. Still potentially too faded to tell what specialty this officer held.

    Hi Matt,
I managed to retrieve precise information by consulting the Regio Esercito regulations.
In extreme summary: the sleeve ranks of the officers of the "combat" units have the stripes sewn on grey-green woolen cloth, while those of the "service" units are sewn on cloth of the characteristic color of the specialty in the case of a single stripe, but never inside the eyelet.
However, in the case of a multi-striped rank, we return to the grey-green woolen cloth, and the color of the specialty appears only in the space between the various stripes.
Very complex regulation! but I hope I managed to explain myself; at this point in your case, I can say with reasonable certainty that it is a Medical Officer.

    Regards
    Roberto

    Hi Roberto,

Thank you for the information, I've made sense of it. Thank you so much for your help, I'm definitely happy with a medical officer.
