Nice pick Paul. Colonel of 91 inf. rgt., if the rank insignia is original to the bustina, she would have belonged to the commander.

Beside the rank tab and badge which are WWII, that's not a wartime m.33 officer bustina, see the cut, it has no earmuff, just front visor.
I don't know which pattern, but looks definetly postwar, maybe something P.S. (State Police) or early PW .
To Ziomanno, just Colonel rank, not Colonel Commander, we don't have red base here .

    Cheers.

I think it is highly probable that you are right, in fact this Bustina is identical to the one called by collectors Mod.1946 or Mod.1947, a specific cap for the Police, (which was then called "Pubblica Sicurezza").
It was worn together with a British Battledress-style wool uniform, but of a gray-green color very similar to or equal to that of the Regio Esercito campaign uniforms, I believe it was used between the years 1946 and 1950 approximately.
There are those who say that similar field caps appeared already before the end of the war, but I have not found reliable information confirming this.

    Regards
    Roberto
