SA officer buckle

Hello members I hope every one is well in this new year. I have a question on a buckle it is pictured on Angola’s revised edition page 157 an SA style officers buckle,they make me question them Have never seen them in period photos.I would like some opinions pleaseThank you charlie

I never like the buckle the construction doesn’t look period.
