Lovely & ornate buckles these, thanks Ivan I did not know some have been marked Assmann. 155/36, I wonder if these were the last produced in nickel before they went to aluminium?

...a very rar early nickel silver variation of SS .

Must be marked by O&C but IMO design and made by Assmann...
Are the two buckles now shown exactly the same? Not disputing the Assmann connection as this has been known for a long while, however the buckles do look slightly different to me. In particular and towards the eagles, their heads, necks, chests and selected feathering. Perhaps an illusion occasioned by wear, light, angle of the digital images et al. The forum member who started this thread is also querying this aspect of the designs.

    Regards and best wishes,

    David

What a great thread and I m happy to have learned yet another lesson! I agree there are differences in the examples shown, but what does that mean? Different variants from the same maker? Or simply one buckle made by O&C and another by Assman. Or something totally different. Kindest regards.

And not that it makes a lot of difference and I could certainly be wrong but on the OP buckle the ges gesch seems to be raised as opposed to stamped. I'm not certain that's of relevance to any one maker or an indicator of age production method etc. And or as I said could be completely wrong?
