I have looked at the links you suggested and agree that it is a fake however, interestingly, it is different from all the ones you show in your Overhoff thread. To me it looks most like No. 4 but with the paint stripped off but the breast feathers are different. The most obvious thing to me is the prongs, which are too thin... I find the rest of it is a bit harder to determine but can see obvious differences. When you refer to the "ears", do you mean the folded over bits next to the prongs pin...they look a bit more elongated on the original?

Yes Andrew, again look at the first couple of pages on this thread, it shows the locations and "terminology" which buckle collectors use
