Article about: Hi all, in this thread like the others I have done we will compare an original SS 36/42 against a current fake and try and compare differences. Firstly the front one of the biggest givaways

    josephc,

No worries my friend. We are just very fortunate to have experts within our forum to help spot the fakes.

    Default Fake?

    Hi,
I estimate this to be another shitty fake. Made to look extra rusty,
    used and 'dirty'

    What do you think?

Based on this thread, my 36/42 buckle is also a fake. 3 on the stamp is streight, not curved. The eagle has a V chest.

Good thing I won it in an auction and didn't pay too much for it.

    Dear Vocht,

It is greatly appreciated that you have so kindly isolated your buckle from the previously discussed, SS reference thread.

Unfortunate however that as you suspected and as Ben has quite rightly confirmed, that your SS buckle is the ubiquitous "V-Chest" fake.

    Regards and best wishes,

    David

Indeed David, it goes in the shoebox with the rest of the fakes. Thanks for confirmation Ben Evans. I learned something from this thread.

Cheers and have a great weekend.

    Hello Collectors,

Are there any originals where the "Catch Foot" is stamped as you can see it mostly in the pictures of the fakes? Or is this a safe way to point out a fake?

    Thank you very much.

Some of the late war Overhoff buckles have something similar
