Camo M40 helmet w/ wire basket
Hey all, I saw this up for a fairly decent price and initially I was pretty taken with it, but on closer inspection I'm not so sure.
Judging by the interior vs exterior condition, I'm in half a mind to say someone's just dug this up and repainted it (if not outright faked the entire thing) but maybe that's just me overthinking things. That and the price point really have me second guessing pretty hard on this.
Any ideas or opinions? Thanks!

Yeah, the inside pictures were uploaded later than the first ones and it threw me right off but I wanted to confirm w myself I wasn't just being dense so I wouldn't kick myself later haha

Indeed, in this case the inside really tells everything you need to know.
Not to even mention the major pitting under the paintwork especially on the front.

Run away from it.
Not even looking at the inside. The exterior is poorly executed. Contrived reaction of the wire to the shell. No paint on split pins, etc. etc.

Paint over pitting and new chicken wire. Just awful.
Fury, your gut feeling was spot on. When things don’t add up there’s usually something fishy going on. Unfortunately, there will be someone new to collecting who will purchase this helmet but regrettably that’s the nature hobby at times

Looks like vomit.
The contrast between the inside and outside of the shell is the nail in the coffin here. But, as said - you don't even need to venture that far...
