Just got it in a couple of days ago, thought i would post some pictures, Being my first Luftwaffe helmet i am pretty stoked to have it!

Some users thought the liner might have blood rot on it but i'm not sure, so i have added some close up pictures of the liner

Thanks for all the help on the previous thread!

Hi, a nice M40, certainly well used although i do not think it is blood rot personally,i guess the chinstrap is not original to it as it is in much better condition, i would look for one that matches up a bit closer personally. Leon.

Thanks Leon, I couldn't find any markings on the chinstrap but i do believe it to be original. it feels and smells like my other one. But you're probably right that it is a replacement.

Edit - I don't know much about chinstraps are they always marked? i wouldn't think so

No...they are not all maker marked or dated. I have no clue of the percentage of marked ones vs. unmarked produced.
But as far as my experience observing them...I see maybe 10-15 % unmarked.

    Nice example.

    Chinstraps were NOT always marked.
