    Default ET62 M35 DD Heer Lot # 4565

I've had this one for a few months now. (Thanks FNG).

One of three nice M35's I've picked up this year.

    M35 ET62 DD Apple/Pea Green Heer helmet. Lot # 4565.

Lightly stamped and smudged Dome stamp from Depot I, correct for ET. Most likely dated 1939. Aluminum reinforced M31 liner dated 1939: Werner Zahn, Berlin/Charlottenburg. Leather is soft and supple but the liner band appears to have popped a rivet in the rear giving the liner a misshapen appearance. I have gently moved it back into place.

The ET style Heer decal rates 97%+/- with small scratch in Swastika. National Shield has taken some hits. Paint in very good. Missing chin strap.

The interesting part about this helmet is that the ET Heer decal is of a type rarely seen. When looked closely, you can see it appears to have TWO layers, similar to a Kriegsmarine. Something I have not only have ever seen but never even heard of before. I have shown this to a few very respected collectors (one in hand) who confirmed what I saw as well as a respected helmet author who confirmed the existence of these Heer decals.

    Enjoy!

And lastly...a photo highlighting the two layers

The first being the ET Heer decal and the second photo of a typical ET KM two layer decal for comparison.

That's an amazing pick up! The wear on the paint and decals is really nice as it shows some use but still appears minty. Your pictures really show the unqiue look the early M35's have due to their glossy paint when everyone else at the time went for a textured finish. Also Just wondering now that you have an early war helmet for each branch are you planning on getting an early war M38?

    Thanks Steve.

While I do want a decaled M38, my next priority (2020) is to find a similar condition M35 DD Police in that nice light green paint. Will be difficult but I do want one nice DD M35 for each branch (excluding a DD SS M35 being out of budget of course )

Sorry, you do not have permission for that!
    Hope this link is ok.
Your beautiful helmet reminded me of this post I viewed last week.
Similar decal from a 2012 post?
Sorry, it's a ridged Heer on a similar lot number range ET.
    Apologies it would not post!
