Great idea. I have similar stands, but the knob should be small enough
to fit through the gap in the middle of the liner avoiding contact
with it - The helmet itself rests on the knob.............

An original one will cost about $100, they are a pricey item, but it must be original, either with a date or without, a dated one will have to match the time period for the helmet, undated doesnt matter, your best bet would be arms fairs but there are enough collectors and forum members from your side of the pond to advise the best places
I saw a dealer here recently, with 5 or 6 original helmet straps. They were not all that great
condition wise. He was asking $150 to $250 each ! ( I think they are over priced
even at $100 ) but as Dave says, you must have an original to complement
the helmet and add value.......

I have used Umbra paper towel holders in chrome and matte brushed metal. They cost about $15 and the tip fits perfectly through the liner fingers with a wide flat heavy base that prevents the unit from tipping over. Put a small piece of felt on the top which prevents any scratching of the interior of the dome and you are set.
