Default M35 with original paint under a postwar repaint

Bought this M35 for £100 - had postwar paint over and SS decals slapped on. Why do people do this ? decided to apply acetone with cotton wool to see what was under the paint - to my surprise the original combat paint ? Soon removed the black to reveal a good helmet - what I’ve noticed is on both sides roughly where decals may have been the original paint has been scraped off , plus two strikes of an Axe? On top of helmet - could suggest end of war de nazifacation and survived the axing - not sure just own thoughts .
Still needs done cleaning in pitted areas , not sure if liner is original though .
Helmet numbers are there - SE64 and 4832
Both are on the helmet data base - info given was SD/KM reissue
Hoping by taking off the black paint it’s added value back to it

What you have there is a Norwegian Repainted helmet. The liner is commonly found in Norwegian Post War helmets and the green paint seems to be of the later color.
    Same liner in my helmet:

The liner pins themselves also seem to be the Norwegian Brass pins

Why the German numbers stamped in though ? Maybe liner was added post war perhaps when it got painted black ?

It's a German M35 repainted after the war by the Norwegians for use for their army.

Thanks - that makes perfect sense now
Has it any value as it is ? Should I take the liner out and replace with German again ?

In my opinion, I would leave it exactly as you have it now. Then again, I am pretty biased as I collect Norwegian helmets.

A shame someone removed the Norwegian decal
