M40 Beaded Luftschutz - Q68 - Lot Number 104
Found this at a flea market about 20 years ago, a near complete M40 beaded Luftschutz in really good shape. I like the big ones and this piece is a Q68, lot number 104. The paint has some storage wear, the Wing has a few scuffs and the tip of the cheap thin chinstrap has broken off, but the ersatz size 58 liner is perfect. I will let the pictures say the rest. Had never even thought of that Larry but after your post I looked at it closely - it looks like it was worn, but not much. The remaining portion of the long side of the chin strap looks used and there is some very light wear and staining on the liner. I think it was issued, but not used much.

Always worth remembering that the Luftschutz also had female personnel who may well have treated their possessions with a little more female pride than the men folk. Perhaps this is the reason this one lasted so well?
Would have been a very big headed/tall woman, especially for that time.
Stunning helmet Jim and very special in size 68 - there cannot be many in this condition and size.
As has been stated - these are massively under-rated helmets, and also so attractive.
