M42 latewar or repaint?

Could you help me with this helmet?
I believe that its repaint because the stamp number is not visible,I think the liner its ok.

Please clarify what you mean by repaint. Earlier issued helmets were returned to service after being repainted with textured paint. That to my knowledge was done by hand. In this case, this may be original paint for a late war issue "M42" type. I defer to others with more experience. Attached photo shows a "repaint" helmet. Neil

The paint looks good to me as well. Sometimes M42s were not stamped very well, making the marks hard to read. So a faint stamp is not necessarily an indicator of a repaint.

Looks like typical late war original aluminium oxide textured paint. Nice original example.
