Great find!....
Really really nice. Now, to research the soldier and you have the whole story and a preserved piece of history!

My greatest fear is that one day I will die and my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them

Nice mate, cool to see it with the label. I see lots of WW1 lids with them but not so many WW2.
Very nice 35th Infantry Division bringback.
His enlistment record:
NARA - AAD - Page not found
Looks like he was Mark A. Rooney, born March 2nd, 1921, and died on May 22nd, 1998 in Fulton Co., Georgia.
P.S. Send me your address so I can get you the 1,000 post helmet.
Thank you. Damn Mo, you're quick! Btw, is your inbox a little less full so I can send you my address, or did I already send it to you? The days are running together.
Let me clean it out real quick. I tend to let them build. lol
Hi Todd, that's a nice helmet, especially still having it's mail back "tag" still attached. I have never seen a mail back helmet from our British forces. I don't know if us brit's even did it to be honest. Maybe as we were so close to home our boys just brought them back themselves when on leave? Leon.
