    Default M42 Norwegian Re-issue!

Hello there! I am new to the forum and I thought that the 'best' way to introduce myself (WAS) to ask a question.

I am getting this helmet on Friday, it is using a Norwegian issue liner. Now, I am not interested in the liner: I am interested in the actual helmet. Can any of you tell if the shell is original? I will repaint it, of course, and use in my German impression.

    Thank you,
    B.

Do you believe the black one to be a repaint?

Welcome to the forum, as Ade says, both are original shells that have been re-painted. Leon.

I asked the seller of the first helmet if he could find any markings/stamps inside the shell. He replied with: "The only numbers that I could find are on the back of the inside rim and appear to be 6 and 48".

Could one, kindly, tell me what numbers they are?

    Thanks,
    B.

Most likely he's misreading the stampings as they tend to be less pronounced on M42s...Generally you'll have a manufacturer's code, such as ET followed by the shell-size in centimeters....For example ET 66...There would also be lot/batch number on the rear inner skirt...
    cheers, Glenn
