Apart from using cloth to clean some cobwebs I would advise against any leather treatment. The leather will remain good like that if it is no longer stored in a basement or barn.

It will also alter the appearance and smell of the leather so not a good idea.

Good advice. not only will leather treatment alter the appearance but in some cases it can actually cause such old, dried leather to disintegrate like wet cardboard. I know, I have seen it happen
