    Very nice ND 42 Andy!
    Funny how the pig skin leather can sometimes turn to a red-brown color with age.
    As for the drawstring.. no idea.. the weave is correct but the ends make it seem more like a shoelace, but then again, it's not like this specific type of string was just used on helmets exclusively.
    Or the soldier went to the efforts to attach those metal bits at the ends of the string, who knows.
