You would think these wouldn't survive inspection in the factory in the first place. But now it survived WW1 Austrian inspection and later on was accepted in the Wehrmacht. It is stamped in the liner 1935 so pre-war. But as I noticed, other Austrian helmets do have similar defects. You'll see.

I was curious would that mean that the german factories would sell the defective steel helmets that wouldn't pass inspection for the Imperial german army to the Austro- Hungary rather then recycling them?

These were produced by Austrian/Hungarian factories. The M17 wasn’t produced by Imperial Germany to my knowledge.

who says it was used in WW1 , could have been put aside and deemed ok for early TR use.
