Article about: This has to be my favorite helmet in my collection! This is a nice combat vet M1917 Heer Transitional and the reason it is my favorite is that there are so many different colors and textures

    A lovely helmet. But as for the blood rot... after asking on several occasions, I'm still waiting for someone on the forum to come up with the scientific proof.

    I guess the only way to tell would be to send it out to be tested. It could just be water damage or as stated earlier, a very sweaty forehead.

    Members of other forums say that the helmets with "true" blood damaged liners have a really strong, horrible smell to them. Mine doesn't smell. So who knows what it is, either way its a great helmet!
