Why have German helmets not appreciated?

I’m not convinced that there’s fewer people coming into the hobby. The “research” I did a while ago showed that a lot of Forum members joined here AND started collecting in earnest when disposable income cut-in.....usually early ‘40s. A quick look at Facebook shows a lot of young blood....but will THEY join Online Forums like this now or later. And regardless of collecting subject matter, they’ll always be some folk who select “cool” loser gear even if just to annoy their parents or impress (or annoy?) their mates.
