Original Lehman & Wunderberg buckle with a restitched original Dr Franke leather tab
I agree with Ivan, both original, different but resewn on

The buckle still has good detail. Most aluminum Heer are well worn and they weren’t making them in 1940. If the price is right it is a buckle worth buying. Just don’t pay a premium because of the tab. I would remove the tab if I bought it.
Hello,
There are mint or almost mint aluminium Heer buckles in collections....but yes the majority of those usually seen are well worn.
Are you sure "they weren't making them in 1940", i'm not so sure, 1940 was the year of transition from aluminium to steel...
I handled several examples of alu buckles made this specific year.
below is an example found of the forum :
1940 - Year of Change - 2 Heer buckles & belts.
Thanks

40 was the transition year. That was the last year for aluminum SS buckles. I have steel Heer and Luftwaffe on 40 dated tabs and no aluminum. I should find some aluminum examples. Thanks for the correction.
I forgot that last year I had a real S.H. u 40 on a 40 dated tab.
